RX-7 Kron Man Book Jacket
So, what exactly is a pop novel? Let's check for pop in the American Heritage Dictionary.
Pop: Of or for the general public; popular or popularized: pop culture.
The author with the late Clayton Moore
I never set out to establish a pop genre for myself and only added pop by writing Kron man. Kron man typifies the super hero character, yet brings his own evolution and personality into the stories. RX-7 is the stereotypical government research think tank, composed of scientists and security people. In something out of a B movie they find out things they have never known before and go to great lengths to cover up.
Kron emerges out of this agenda in a way similar to Superman arriving from outer space and thrust into a hero status he never sought. Superman is in comics books, radio, TV, and movies. Each version has a portion of the actor's persona, yet still retains the all- powerful image of a man devoted to stopping evil.
George Reeves as the Man of Steel
My favorite super hero growing up was George Reeves, the man of steel, in the Adventures of Superman. Reeves is physically unstoppable and has a quest for truth, justice, and the American way.
Christopher Reeve
Christopher Reeve's softer approach in the movies is another slant on the character.
Enter Batman and the Green Hornet. Kron man isn't as campy as the TV shows nor as serious as the movie.
Randy Kron legitimately fights against evil. Maurice, "Junior" Janus forces Kron into a new life fighting dastardly deeds. Eddie, Pappy, and other characters to add humor to the effort. It's simple, it's funny, it's good versus evil, it's pop.
Kron man is in the tradition of every Baby Boomer's pal.
